Do you still use a point and shoot?

Thing is I have not yet found a cellphone with a camera that is capable for anything other than family, scenery or selfie shots so decided get a mid range phone, a bridge camera and still have around R5K in change.

Oh and actual ability to take macro photos without getting stung or bit in the process or photos of animals that are further than 10 meters from me.

Strictly speaking though a bridge isn't a point and shoot. It's something between a point and shoot and a DSLR.

Why? Its just a point and shoot with a longer zoom. I don't think you even get a point and shoot anymore without a zoom. All the traditional small point and shoot cameras has a small zoom these days. So why would one with a bit longer zoom, now not be a point and shoot?
 
We have a p&s for drives into the bush. Other that, it is cellphones.

Well raw, manual focus, aperture, shutter speed and all those goodies...

That's the way industry categorises it. From my perspective the only real difference between a point and shoot and a bridge is pocketability

I got a rudimentary timelapse setting working by coding in a simple .lua script. But you can do much more if you are willing to play around a bit.

My dad still uses mine, he loves it since he can zoom right in on whatever bushbuck/kudu/impala's nostrils he's spotting:D

I have a Canon 220 HS with the underwater case lying around somewhere that I haven't used since 2015.

If the photo is worth taking, I'll use the 5D that's still alive and kicking. Otherwise, I'll just use whatever cellphone is closest.

It looks like an issue with compatibility with the DIGIC processor, and the 'hacking' of the firmware taking a matter of years. So once the development of MagicLantern is more evolved for the EOS range using that same DIGIC processor, I'd hazard a guess that CHDK would start to trickle down to those models.

I'll ask my dad if he wants to swap his SX50 that supports CHDK with you:p
