Do you tap

Always yes! It still grinds my gears when the machine accepts tap but the cashiers want to know nothing about it!

Does anyone where have any idea when the rest of the banks will start supporting the Garmin Pay tech?
Currently only Investec, FNB and Discovery

I thought the maximum you could tap for was R200? I tapped the other day for about R230.

So what is the maximum amount you can tap for?

I have tapped for 500+ in the past. it did request my pin

Of late my tap always requires a pin. Not entirely opposed as it is not that much more effort and feels safer.

I insist upon tapping my card if it's available. I've given up trying to explain to people why tapping is way more secure than the alternatives, they're the same kind of people who are hoarding toilet paper at the moment.

I prefer to tap especially for smaller purchases as its quick,
If the cashier takes my card then its always insert and pin.

Your bank card on the machine at pay point
I feel uncomfy with it. Dunno why
Ignorance ?

Every time you dip your card you expose it to the inside of a payment terminal. Little bits of your ICC chip are scraped off and the end of its life is closer.

There is no risk for you at all. All the risk is on the vendor.

Then you get the tellers that want to tap the card for you.

This drives me crazy. Just don't touch my card, full stop. It's funny how we're so conditioned in South Africa to hand over our debit and credit cards for the teller to insert it. You realise just how much if you go overseas.

I wish Builders start to change their machines to accept Tap

you can tap any amount - unless you mean tap without it asking for a pin?
then every bank is different like standard bank is R500 but randomly lower amounts some times it will ask for a pin. (personally wish they would set it lower or allow us to set that)

I agree, I would rather be entering a pin for every tap above 100bucks
