Was a bit surprised at that amount so went and double checked - you can get 1gb bundles for r499 on both MTN and Vodacom (hmm exactly the same price - they would never collude on prices would they  ). Still ridiculously priced though.
but if you only use bout 1 gig, HSDPA or 3g isn't such a bad deal compared to telkoms ADSL, seeing as you pay no line rental or anything like that

Anything but telkom for me. I am also sick of online gaming. Screw RSA internet. I wouldn't care if telkom was god... i still wouldnt worship them. go MTN. rather give them ur cash.

lol - if I only used one gb I'd have to question why I'd need broadband in the first place :) My Blackberry would suffice for my email connectivity and thats only r150 per month, the rest could be handled off peak by dial up.

However - like a lot of us I like to at least pretend I'm in the real world and usually use a gb every day or two.

EDIT - besides - from the coverage map MTN doesnt have the 3G coverage in my area. Vodacom does but thats no better than giving telkom the money directly.

Could be contention ratios ... Depend on the area u are in. My friend in Thabazimbi gets almost 60kb/s with his 192 ... where friends in Pta gets 30 kb/s max ?

wow, that is ridiculous! Is this even possible?? I thought that the line itself limited the speed...??
