Do you tip car guards?

We have to nowadays. I have only been in a situation where I had to park at a mall because of an emergency.

The car guards looked like they will scratch our vehicle if we don't give them a R10. Not gonna spend R60k for a new paintjob over R10.

I dont use cash anymore - so cant tip.

In most cases i dont really believe they do much. But a few times when they werent around, I see people pulling out of their parking spots like they blind - dont even look to see if there i any on coming traffic, so in some cases they do help with these situations.

If i had some coins i dont mind giving a rand or two.

I imagine that's becoming more commonplace.

Until these okes start getting Yoco devices LOL.

I heard in CT, some of them have snapscan QR codes? Not sure if its true or not.

If they aren't a nuisance will usually consider them, but too many get in your face in their eagerness.

I generally talk to them beforehand and request them not to move hands like crazy when I back out of parking lot and if they remember it when I am back, I give R5 if I have in the car.

In fact, since I got car with all kinds of sensors, it annoys me more as car beeps when they are right in the way when you back out.

Yes. I usually have a quote of the day for them.
Like "brush your teeth every morning". And " an apple a day keeps the doctor away". I can only hope my tips help them in some way or another

“Don’t look directly at the sun”.

Its tough because its not an opt in service and honestly its a fairly useless service. My car has cameras and sensors, I have a drivers license, so unless they assist with loading groceries, taking my trolly back for me or helping me get in or out of a parking on a busy road I feel giving them money is purely charity.

Also you cant say they protect your car as my cars have been broken into at shopping malls with car guards more then anywhere else.

I don't carry cash.

I've told them, they need some kind of electronic payment method because i do not like cash. So i do not feel bad that I cannot pay them.

I don't pay them to guard my car, its perfectly secure on its own, and its insured and has tracking and blah blah and anyway if a group of thugs came to steal it these guards would be running for the hills they're not going to go all Chuck Norris on any would-be thief.

However, i do believe they could be out stealing, but instead are trying to make a job and work for some money and they do help woman with groceries and reversing out of parking bays so as not to reverse into my car. So i don't mind tipping them if i can.
