Thanks,
I think i understand now.
Because the two particles are moving fast, their time is passing slower. Therefore, if you were sitting on the particle, the other one would approach you at a slower rate than it would look like to an outside observer.
Though.. to an outside observer they would approach each other at 1.2c, But that is not cheating relativity because nothing is moving faster than light relative to him.

Pretty much, but you need not worry about that.

I hope I explained well, it's a really difficult topic to explain because you literally can't relate it to anything us humans are used to... Quantum Physics is another fsck up in that sense... and will take a good 2000 words + to just describe some of the simple stuff :/.

One correction - nothing with mass can travel faster than light... ;)

ok, fine, if something has mass, then it's relative mass goes to infinity... If something doesn't have mass, like a photon, then all is well and it actually has to travel at the speed of light to exist!. In fact, there's a particle called a Tachyon, which can actually go faster the speed of light, or travel the speed of light, but it can't ever go slower...

A consequence of massless particles traveling at the speed of light is that they actually have a momentum, despite not having a mass.

Don`t even bother... If the likes of Einstein and Bohr struggled to wrap their heads around it I won`t even try. The stuff I`ve seen in documentaries make no intuitive sense at all.
I`ll stick with the picture of electrons spinning around atoms like little planets :D

ha ha ha ha ha. Well, quitting while your ahead is well worth it ;). ha ha. I really don't think anyone knows how to understand quantum physics, they just lie to themselves ;), and manage to use the maths .
