Yes- and I prefer it over Whatsapp, but it seems most of my friends and family, and now my work colleagues, are dead set on using Whatsapp, and it makes me sad.
 
Telegram is the only messaging app I use.
Whatsapp still installed but have notifications turned off, there's still a lot of people using that legacy app, sadly.
 
I'm testing it out on the Black Friday group.

- I like it because when I joined I received access to the complete post history from when the group was created in 2017

- When I browse backwards (up) in post history, once done press down arrow and jump to latest unread post

- When finding a good deal (post), you can send the post to yourself and it goes to a new chat thread called Saved Messages

There is more, can't recall all now.
 
Used it, liked it but had no one to chat to. So no longer use it. I'm not going to try convert the unwashed masses to it though, whatsapp is fine for your average Joe (like me)
 
Yes, I love Telegram, although I only use it to chat to my SO, away from everyone else. I still use WhatsApp though.

Can anyone tell me how to change the colours of individual chats?

What I want is a way to colour-code all my chats (think a simple red, yellow, green kind of triage effect, depending on importance/urgency). (for use at work, that is)

The way the icons in the image below have different colours - I want the whole of that chat to have that colour.

Can this be done?

I can't answer you. I use Plus over lay. It gives me tabs. Separates my personal chats, groups, supergroups, channels, bots and favorites. You could put your Important chats in Favourites.

Since using Plus I hate even the desktop version of Telegram as everything is muddled. Plus has a ton more controllable settings. Try it out.

I don't know what Plus is. Is it something desktop based?
