Looking at how it works in Instagram, the ads appear between “stories”. There are no notifications there either.

Those sponsored things in Instagram are easy to ignore - I have a bad feeling these won't be. But perhaps I am wrong. Let's hope.

Well hopefully you are right, as I have clients that insist on WhatsApp to communicate. No other article says how it will work - only that it is currently invisible now and in the beta app. So we will wait and see.

One thing I know of, our Neighborhood watch wants to move to Telegram, because of the 5000 member group size it can handle, opposed to Whatsapp's 250 member.

Severely limiting the proliferation of "neighbourhood" groups is an excellent feature...

I tried it out, normal Telegram app still is more functional IMO.

Lol, ok. Easier to steal a wheely bin, when no-one can track you or knows about it happening.

Basically, there's people in the neighborhood, that wants to know if something is going down (or maybe wife and husband wants to be on the group). Now the admin must ask if someone wants(mind going) to go off, so they can add a new person.

Also the management app for groups is really great - you can mute individuals

Yep, I love the X app. Been using it pretty much since it was released.

Prefer the bubble design, slick transitions and general size of various elements.

There has been issues though with notifications. Sometimes you dont get notifications until you open the app. Dont know if that has been resolved now.

I have noticed that happen a few times, but only once in a blue moon. I'd assume it has been dealt with if it occurred frequently enough to be an issue for some, as a while back the app was updated to properly support Android Pie.

A group with more than 250 members I immediately exit groups larger than 5 people
