I deleted my account many years ago after thinking about it from the perspective of the friends and family whose details I have saved in my contacts. I realised I wouldn't like any of them sharing my contact info with Truecaller so I shouldn't be sharing their info either.

I don't have it installed as I don't want all my contacts uploaded...
I do use the website though to sometimes reverse search a number.

It doesn't. Not on my phone.
I just see a number, answer it and if it's another marketer, off to the blacklist they go. No sweat on my part. And the best part is I don't have to have my name and number in another targeted database.

I don't do niceties and chat to the operator or let them waste my time, I just hangup and blacklist.
Unless they're selling a new dstv decoder, then I just put them on speakerphone and once they are done with their sales schpiel I tell them I can't hear well, can they repeat... While I get on with work.
Except you had to pick up the phone?

Yes, so much that I got paid version even. Works for those robocallers especially and scammers. The feature that makes it work is the feature that is against the law.
Same here.
As for the feature, the spam callers most likely got your number against the law (and your wishes) so screw that!

There are twats on truecaller who list the Telkom / mtn voicemail numbers, rescue / emergency service numbers, hospital numbers etc as spammers.

I love it that Truecaller allows any muppet with my number to upload it to their system without my consent. That's just grand. So much for POPI.

Yep, I use it, and it works great for me. Some releases of the app used to drain my battery more rapidly, but it hasn't happened in a long time.

Truecaller app has its Pros and Cons, lets jump into it...

Pros, it can block spam callers for you. Cons, if you're depended on you network provider for certain services via sms or USSD, it might pick it up as a spam caller and blocks sometimes important calls and messages.

Pros: Call recording feature on the Gold version is available
Cons: As soon as an update is made available or/and when you're being forced to do so, that feature is MIA after update, and suddenly surprised you being available again with one of the future updates.

II can go on and on...

Last but not least...if you gave me your number and I save it as 'Poephol' without you knowing and you don't even use Trucaller, everybody who enters your number on Tcaller will see you name as Poephol...

I agree with the above, but I don't automatically block. Companies share numbers and you might miss something you're expecting.

Call recording used to be a feature, but a Google/Android update disabled this feature. I agree, they are quite spammy.

I have a truecaller subscription precisely for the reason of people saving my name as whatever they think of. Now it always displays the name I entered.
