Yeah love it, Huawei Gt2e
tracking steps and seeing which notifications to avoid.

also track workouts, tells me the time and works as an alarm

would love a Garmin, but cant justify it

as for the cheapies out there. Dont do it. It will frustrate you and put you off the whole smart watch thing

Fitbit for more than 3 years Until last week - the thing just gave up.

I wear a smart watch. It saves me from reaching to my phone everytime a message comes through.

Yeah they awesome, didn't think I needed it till I had it. Super convenient, messages straight to your wrist from SMSes/whatsapp/other apps, notifications for tracking, navigation, calendar, alarms. Not needing to pull out your phone all the time to look at a message or disconnect a call. Then there's the whole health side, fantastic! Tracking of everything from heart rate to steps, location etc. pushing you to do better. Well worth it. Oh also saved me money, when at the shop I get the deduction while I'm paying at the till and have caught many "mistakes" by cashier with overcharging. Able to spot it with a turn of my wrist and catch it there and then. Then there's the customisation, custom faces etc. Very cool.

Other - I have one and I wear it when I remember it exists. It is fantastic at telling the time. The rest of the features are trash imo. My heart rate is what it is, the number of steps I walk in a day are the number of steps I walk. When I play squash I get a workout with or without the watch. So it adds very little actual value.

Samsung pay?

Only wear mine when I go shopping.

Yes, galaxy 4. Great range of features, battery life is terrible. (Some days 8 hours, some days 18 hours)

Used for: step, sleep and exercise tracking, and the compass.

But it's hit and miss on the granular accuracy of pretty much every aspect.

Eg. Body fat estimate 22%, actual value (caliper) 17%

Distance walked, under reports by about 10% on slopes. Overshoots on city walking (didn't bother to calculate)

If you are serious about exercise tracking. The polar chest monitor is incredible. Look for the h10 if you can find it.

I do not have a smartwatch but would love to get one in the future. Would be nice to get the Apple Watch.

Hopefully Vodacom and MTN bring prepaid e-SIM support soon. I am generally against contracts for smartphones, laptops, etc.

Apple Watch series 7, free from discovery, I do enjoy it, can control everything from my watch and even has stocard. Don’t have to carry wallet anymore. Enjoy that I can control Spotify from watch. Awful and inaccurate health features.
Had gear s2 for 5 years, the only Samsung device that lasted surprisingly long but battery awful now but still used it for health activities, miles better than Apple.
Just bought a garmin vivoactive for wife, poor features and screen, but miles better and accurate in health features than above

Have an apple and a gt 2, not my daily choice, wear one of them if I know I'm going to be stuck in meetings and still have to coordinate my teams. Prefer using one of my g shocks as a daily, less irritation with your wrist vibrating the whole day with notifications

peeps that wear one have too much moneys just saying
Not really you can get a garmin 55 for R1500 new from sportsman's warehouse with the discount from discovery.

This is a better watch than Apple, Samsung or huawei for anything sports related which is why majority of people have smart watches.

Have an Amazfit GTS (Xiaomi)

Great battery life - has all the bells and whistles. Watch is almost 3 years old - still gives me easily 10 days between charges.
