So I got an e-mail form Telkom about the doBroadband Support Tool
e-mail said:
Dear TelkomInternet customers
Telkom, in its continuous drive to improve technical support, introduces the new doBroadband Support Plus tool. This user-friendly, easy to use, self-help tool is designed to assist users with the setup of TelkomInternet accounts and to resolve network connectivity problems.
The tool can analyse and resolve personal computer, gateway and internet connectivity issues. It will provide unique error messages that can be quoted to helpdesk personnel to speed up calls for technical support.
To use the tool, simply download and store somewhere on your personal computer or laptop. No installation is required.
To download please log into the TelkomInternet Usage tracker tool on www.telkomsa.net.

System Requirements:
• OS: Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7
• Recommended Pentium™ class processor or equivalent
• Recommended minimum of 128 MB RAM for Windows XP and 512 MB RAM for Windows Vista and Windows 7
The next time a connectivity problem is experienced, simply double click the tool icon and run the test.
For more information please don’t hesitate to contact our 24 hour technical support help desk at 10215.
Kind Regards
TelkomInternet Technical Support
Its 17 Megs, downloads quite slow for me.
Will try it out now to see what it does, etc.

Have you tried the password to the account that you logged in with?

Just sucking it outta my thumb... (idea)

Password is telkomsa (guessed it first time, lol) Not too much to the tool though, really, seems like a waste of time lol. I thought this would be some kind of useful interface to allow you to change your sync profile within an allowed range for your account without needing to bother their call centre, perhaps enable/disable g.dmt and adsl2+ features for your line - stuff like that. This program doesn't do anything that you couldn't already do without it.

According to the test program, my computer doesn't meet the minimum requirements ... seriously guys, give this a miss, it's complete crap!!!!

That's just the 'computer test'

Now you know if that's how a test program starts - I'm not even bothering to go further!!

Massive Faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiillll lllllllllllllll

Fail-1=Hidden on website
Fail-2=Hidden even further, slow download.
Fail-3=Password request on ZIP.
Fail-4=EXE also extracting/installing, you accept, interface open.
Fail-4a=It repeats this everytime you open the EXE.
Fail-4b=Repeat of fail 4a...You are in a loop of failures now.

My PC also failed, modem passed however.
Fail-5=Error codes are few and hidden on another website.

Massive FAIL

In all fairness though, it's not something you need permanently installed on your PC, so the fact that it's in a 'portable'/self-extracting format is not fail - you're probably only going to need to use it once anyway. The download wasn't slow for me, so that's obviously then a problem with your connection. It's not 'hidden' on the website (it's in the right place), and the fact that it requires a password justifies the fact that the self-extracting EXE is also inside a ZIP archive (I guess the creator of the app didn't know of any way to incorporate a password mechanism into the self-extracting EXE, and may have wanted to hide all the working files from the end-user). I agree though that passwording the app at all though seems fail/pointless, especially considering that the password is static and so easy to guess (I guessed it first time, as is evident by this thread)... indeed there seems to be no point in having a password for this in the first place... But, if you read the OP's post, you'll see the point of this app is to diagnose problems WHEN instructed to do so by a Telkom technician when you call their helpdesk - in other words that technician would instruct you on how to find it, and provide you with the password, eliminating the fail factor assumed by someone who thinks that they're supposed to find the app and password on their own

What is fail, though, is how pointless the app is, once all the above work been done. It doesn't allow you to do anything you couldn't already do, and most of the information it provides seems useless (if not inaccurate and vague) - why show the whole routing table? If you're calling telkom's DSL support center, you're probably calling them to diagnose a problem with your DSL connection, not some advanced routing problem on your own PC which isn't even really Telkom's job to resolve. All the info can be found more easily (just a few clicks) on any PC without going through that whole 'locate->download->password->extract' process

Shame, can you imagine how many people do phone them (and all other IT helplines) with problems that aren't even really their job to resolve? ;) Had a good laugh a while ago when I read about the ID-10-T tech support code...

I can't even get this piece of crap running. It installs then says "application failed to start because the application configuration is wrong, try reinstall."

So i deciced to install C++ redistributable 2010,but didnt help.Doesn't seem like this would be any use anyway.
