DoBroadband WiMax from Telkom

...and is designed to suck up as much of your precious BW as possible.

Until do Broadband is actually far cheaper than HSDPA, Telkom can forget it. I cannot see how anyone (that does not include the heavy users... I am talking under 1GB per month) would rather go for these packages. Just does not make sense. Even more so if you think that people just dont install Telkom lines these days anymore. I certainly cannot think of one friend who does.

HSDPA:
R349
900Kbps
1GB cap
installation process: 24hours max
Pro: mobility

do Broadband option1:
R378.28
300Kbps
1GB cap
installation process: 5 working days if you are very lucky

So can someone explain to me how will Telkom ever sell 1 of these packages to a normal internet user?

So the price will be:

(R378 + R100) - R100 = R378
ADSL - line rental
?

You would have to be quite an idiot to take do Broadband option 1.

Telkom is pricing themselves right out the market. That is very good for everyone. That means one less gov company to f#$%ck up telecoms in S.A.

Not true. For a low usage option, it's not bad - R279 including the ADSL access fee works out to R35 for 1Gb, which is cheaper than going with an independent ISP.

You guys are getting it wrong. The R279 EXCLUDES the R99.28 mandatory line rental...unless Telkom changed it since last week...?
