DoC, ICASA, it’s time to get cracking

While many have called for the signal distributor to give up their spectrum, Sentech CEO Setumo Mohapi made it clear that they would not relinquish any of it and that they would use it in the roll-out of their national broadband network.

This concerns me greatly; Sentech have failed miserably in all their previous attempts at providing telephony/data services, so why should they be trusted to have another go?

Why does government want yet another finger in the telecoms pie?

Sentech is a disgrace, and so is ICASA and the DoC. Wake me up in 5 years time, and the same would be true. Something really drastic needs to be done, in order to move forward. We've been staying still or moving backwards for 10 years now, while technology continues to improve every year in leaps and bounds, and our beloved country gets left behind the rest of the third world, nevermind the first world. Enough is enough.

Telkom SA’s group CEO, Nombulelo “Pinky” Moholi, agreed with Ngcaba, saying the most important thing right now is to make a decision.
“We need to stop just talking about it – we’ve talked about it for long,” Moholi said.

Anyone else find this extremely ironic?
