Yeah so like I said run the PiHole on host and everything else on the bridge.

Problem solved.
Pi hole makes way to many changes and installs a bunch of crap I don't want to mess with my host

I like the conventional idea of keeping the host clean and containerizing everything, unfortunately my knowledge is still limited so the reality isn't always as I planned

Switch to AdGuard

That’s precisely why I would make it run on host.

Same reason I keep running Home Assistant on host as well.

Can’t afford to have either one of those services breaking without killing everything so it’s not worth complicating it.

That is an alternative view, makes sense, maybe a good one, maybe worth doing... let me think a bit

Looking at my setup I run Pihole/Adguad, Plex and Home Assistant on Host.

I don't actually run this HA any more as I've moved it to a dedicated box, but this was the least painful setup.

Plex with it's discovery protocols and things always made a lot of sense to run on Host.

Everything else is on a bridge called "letsencrypt" and that's what I host everything from sub-domains with their hostnames out of the Swag container.

If I ever need to change my home IP range for whatever reason everything will just keep working, except for MQTT clients pointing to the wrong server because Tasmota doesn't allow hostnames.
