Doctors: How to find them

So its quite easy to find a general GP now days.

Where would you recommend trying to find specialized doctors. I mean things like Urologists, Dermatologists ect ect?

Any ideas?

Basically i am in the Pretoria / Centurion area.

your medical aid may have a list, also ask the local pharmacy, they usually know the doctors too.

Also..most specialist have offices in Hospitals.

If you have a good GP, just ask them for a recommendation/referral.

When I worked in town, every time I visited the dentist he did some work on my teeth. I never got away with just a check up. I have no way of knowing whether the work was necessarily or not but I felt suspicious. I may have left the best dentist in town but I just can't tell.

I need to find a new dentist and I have a list of 6 names in my area. I don't know dentistry and it would be unfair to ask a non-dentist to judge a dentist because all we can comment on is the experience of the visit not the work in the mouth. Even so, would a dentist know how good the other guys were if he hadn't worked with them? And every dentist I have asked for a recommendation has said "Yes, me. I'm your best bet in this area."

Any advice?

yea technofool... thats the same problem i have... they also all charge such stupid rates that you really gotta know what you are getting into

recomendation/referral from your GP, sometimes you might even get better rates due to it too.
Note: you cannot go direct to hospital nowadays there is a set procedure of investigation thru the various stages/doc-to-specialist etc

You are supposed to get a reffural from your GP but all they are going to do is charge you and give you the number of some one else.

Just phone one of the hospitals.

The problem is that most specialists won't take you without a referral letter.
