Doctors & Prescription Renewals

A 5 minute job for a plumber to unscrew my cistern inlet pipe lock nuts (I did not have a large spanner) and fit a float that I purchased cost me R650.00. All he used was some thread seal tape.

By the way, my wife got all her contraceptive pills for free at the local clinic. They even offer the 3 month injection for free.

They don't have the one she uses any more - got discontinued in 2010. She has some issues with others, so it's safer to remain on one with less side effects.

I have found that it helps if you talk. They will adjust their rates if you tell them "listen, my medical insurer won't pay for this I have to"

But many won't and they are not worth your time then.
Times are hard, medical schemes are more full of crap than ever before (because Corporate Greed) and Doctors are not having an easy ride with the imminent cock-up that is coming i.e. the NHS, or ZumaCare.

Whenever I need a refill I pop my Doctor an email, she replies a few hours later with an electronic script.

She normally charges the medical aid a R80 consultation fee. However it does help when you have known your doctor for nearly 6 - 7 years.

We know a pharmacy in another town where you can get it without prescription, but we only go there every 2 months or so. Nobody here wants to - we've tried everywhere.

Even B12 injections which I got without prescription last year, now require a prescription.

Township pharmacies do that all the time - issuing meds without prescriptions, I never go to the doc for a prescription.

Townships? WTF? My pharmacist is in a upper middle neighbourhood. Well, the one is, the other meets pretty much wherever I need him.
