The wife is looking to buy a Dodge Journey 2.4 SXT, is it a good buy? We currently have a Jeep Commander, which we are selling, so we are looking to replace it with the Journey. Of course the Journey is not a 4WD, and this model doesn't have a DVD. How is the fuel consumption on the Journey? Any problems you know?

We seriously considered the Journey, even test drove it but after we paid R240k for a new Dodge Caliber and they offered us R75k trade in 2 years later I reconsidered. Furthermore Dodge reneged on repairs under warranty that was supposed to have been taken care of but it only surfaced the first service out of warranty at a different dealer that it had not been done. Dodge told us to get lost so after 5 Dodge products they will not see me again. They hold no resale value and Dodge SA are unethical sorry to say.

Unfortunately the quality and refinement are lacking. The ride is spongy making it an uncomfortable ride. Fuel consumption is roughly about 11.5 l/100km.

Not sure what your budget is or what your requirements are. Why not look at the following:

Toyota Fortuner
Chevrolet Trailblazer
Mercedes Benz GLA
Sabaru Outback
Kia Sorento
Mitsubishi Outlander
Mitsubishi Pajero Sport
