To the best of my knowledge, Vodacom has not had that in their official releases from version 5 onwards. It MAY have been in version 4 of the VMC software, but if you've had official VODACOM releases from version 5 onwards then it is not installed at all.

The only place you will find that file is on your install disk, it's not installed though. I've used every official release of 5 onwards and it's not there. If memory serves me correctly, Vodacom was not happy with this in version 4 and has never included it in any of their releases since.

Well then I am not sure where it came from. Is this maybe part of Nokia PC Suite software ?

Seems this thingy is designed to speed up data transfer for cellular devices.

Bytemobile is an in-line data compression device that allows for substantially higher download speeds and browsing, by compressing data, jpegs, etc.

There's an in-line server and a client on your PC.

As kwmf said, the bytemobile client was intially built into the VMC but we had some compatability issues with things like Norton and (you won't believe it) some users complained about the compression so much, we eventually removed it.

So thanks to people like mc721121 (or something like that), everyone else lost out on 30% more data....

I'll check if it's back in V7. Have not heard anything to the effect.

Well if I had to choose between 30% more data throughput and Norton, then it will be the AV that gets replaced.

All I'm saying is that I followed the steps to fix the problem and my internet connection started to work again.

It was just very sudden as I had not changed anything on the setup since it was installed.

If it ain't broken ......... bla bla bla fishpaste.
