Does a ban on booze help?

Does a ban on booze help free up valuable space and resources in the hospitals?

A ban on sales for off-site consumption has very limited effect, especially as sales are restricted to only Monday to Thursday.
 
Prohibition and the War on drugs has never worked. Legalise all drugs.

Honestly, if you get drunk as a skunk and cause an accident or something that requires medical help, you should just be left outside the parking lot of the hospital. Don't make the rest of the country suffer due to a few morons that cannot control themselves.
 
Since the ban on booze, I hear a lot less brandy powered double-clutching at night and the delayed sound of ambulance sirens.

I live nearby a private hospital which is also the start of the Somerset West high-speed race track and it gets very quiet each booze lock down.

It's individuals that screw it up and why we can't have nice things.

I’ve been saying this from the start.

If this (sorry excuse for a) government wanted to end the pandemic it would be as simple as issuing a fine of (say) R5000 to anybody who tests positive. Because clearly if you have contracted it you have not been following the protection guidelines. If they don’t pay it then they must do hundreds of hours of community service, like cleaning up roads, weeding verges, etc. No prison term, you will work to pay your debt. That includes you too, Mr Range Rover driver.

I will guarantee you that the number of people reporting for testing would disappear overnight and the number of hospitalisations for crapvid would dissolve like a Disprin. The sickies would get alternative treatments.

We need a cure for stupidity far more urgently than we need a cure for this crapvid bollocks.
