Sounds confusing, so let me rephrase that:

After the Vodacom fiasco last week I've decided to move on (CellC or 8ta, not sure which yet).

If I port my Vodacom number to another network and Vodacom goes down again, will I also be down again (because my original number is still Vodacom), even if my new network is working?

I guess I really want to know if I'm really rid of Vodacom, or if they will still haunt me.

Thanks

No, you will not be affected because your services will be on the new network altogether.

I was a previous VDC subscriber and was not affected by their outage, even though my number was ported from them.

i think it does, somehow your number still has some links to the original service provider, some ported numbers encounter some technical difficulties which their new service provider can't fix

My wife's number is an 084 number (old Cell-C number) this was ported to VODACOM network a while ago, with the outage last week, my 082 number was down but her 084 number was working fine?

i wasn't receiving absa sms messages on my mtn 082 number while the vodacom shena****ns were going on.
