Does a non terrible media player exist

getting an apple tv is the best thing you ever did for yourself, those R1000 android boxes are just terrible, i dont know why people spend money on them.

I think they're good enough for Google and Netflix to approve though :/

Also, the Apple TV is 3 or 4 x the price though ?

Less than a year ago it was running YouTube 1080  and it couldn't go higher .
I also think Kodi is a no go ?

No they aren't, unless you get a non certified one. The certified ones are fine and do what they need to.

I have a MiBox and a MiStick and they both work flawlessly, box is a tad faster and does 4k, stick is limited to 1080 but works very well.

Not sure who told you it was ****.

Agreed, my Wife has been using a Mi-Box 3 for years, no significant issues, aside from the remote not working due to some rather tired batteries, and she just presses the buttons harder to try get it to work. :(

Womens ... :)

MiBox is great but I still can't get Britbox to work on the damned thing...

Well I have yet to find an Android TV app for BritBox, and if I am going to pay them for their service, then they better have an App on the play store. My take is, no App on the playstore, you are not serious about, selling me your service. A pity tho.

Search on playstore for BritBox on my Shield TV Pro, recommends Acorntv, my LIT box which has lost Netflix ability, the same, my Mi-Box also the same.

Shame

But to answer your question better, a Mi-Box is great if all you want to do is stream media via the internet. If you want to play media from a local hard drive, or USB stick, then get a Emantic or similar with USB ports, having an ethernet net port could be nice, but I have found my Wi-Fi has been good enough so far. YMMV

Luck

And if someone buy something, and chuck it in the draw, there was a good reason for him doing so. Keep that in mind.

Seems britbox is one of the few streaming services without an android tv app. They have an android mobile one but not for android tv.

I can find it on my note 20 but not picked up on my maverick which is running android tv 9.

Seems only amazon fire, roku & apple tv streaming boxes are supported. Only Samsung & LG smart tv's.

Here are the devices supported per their website:

Actually the mibox and MI TV stick do support Netflix, but the Nvidia shield at 5k is the best of the lot.
Why is 5k relevant to a spare monitor ? The miBox at a fraction of price will do just fine.

Yes but I cant see mibox play a 4k 50gb plus mkv file over wifi , if it can do that then great, but really doubt it can process that fast enough. Then to add Dolby vision and atmos also.
Who have spare PC monitors that can do 4k ?
