Does anybody have xperience with both BBerry & iPhone?

Balckberry is a business phone, its reliable and effective, but I think that the biggest puller is if those around you use Bberry's as well.

The handsets are amoung the best around, you might not like the look but they are built around functionallity and not looking good.

If you want to email on your phone I would not bother going anyother way.

BB Curve 8900 and iPhone 3G

1. Usability - iphone wins hands down.
2. Texting/Emailing - BB wins hands down.
3. OS Stability and Programs - no contest here, iphone by a LONG shot. The BB is unstable, the shop is the most pitiful excuse for software you have come accross.
4. Durability - BB wins here, although i dropped my iphone alot and it was fine, the BB just feels stronger.
5. Battery Life - Debatable, iphone was down to 2 days, BB is down to 2 days. However the BB went from 5 days to 2 days in under 4 months of usage.
6. Music/Entertainment - do i really need to call this one? its blatantly obvious
7. Internet Access - BB = RUBBISH WITH A CAPITAL R I've never seen something so slow in my life. Its faster to haul out my anicent Samsung with GPRS and browse. iPhone's 3G works perfectly, and it was fast.

I'm going to strongly disagree with points 4 and 7 - the rest seems pretty accurate though - although the bberry is perfectly usable so I'm not sure about point 1 being hands down.

BTW - WRT point 5 - you can easily replace the BB battery.

What about email is so great besides the active sync push email

How is support for the phone? I actually like the fact that the n97 got a good few sw upgrades of late. Samsungs support is pitiful when i had my i8510

Blackberry support is far better than Nokia, when new features are launched Blackberry users get them. Eg when they added Documents to Go to the Bold all the previous blackberries got them too. All blackberries from the last 18 months are getting the new version 5 OS. Media on the Blackberry is okay - I'm not a business user but I love my Bold. The biggest drawcard is clearly BIS.
Bwana's feelings about blackberry browser are specific to Vodacom and 2G blackberries. On my Bold the internet browser is reasonably fast (this page loaded in under a second) on MTN (except where Javascript is concerned but that problem will be sorted out later this month with os5).

I have a bold - 3G - and I've been pretty positive about Vodacom's BIS as of late.

It's the incredibly poor way they've elected to deal with refunds for the service levels pre-upgrade that is making me jump ship.

EDIT - BTW - Are you sure you're thinking of me? I'm more than happy with browsing on the BB - it might not be as glamourous as on my iphone but it's perfectly usable.

They are both fashion phones with fruit names - the one is just more a business fashion than a casual fashion. If you are unsure which one to go for, take the iPhone.

Definitely - I love my iPhone - lets face it the iPhone makes other multimedia rich smartphones cower in the corner, but data is just too darn pricy. I also like the tactile feedback offered by a keyboard. The OS is rock solid and I'll get used to the slightly larger form factor (as compared to my curve) sooner rather than later. For messaging nothing comes close.
