Does anybody here use the Android GPS features?

Ordered the software (about R 300) but their download site for SA maps are down and the farkers don't answer my mails.

Damn, is it still down? I just tried the Trial version about a week ago, and the were like 280 something mb, as well as some extra stuff, the voices I think. You can chose from a bunch of voices. It downloaded straight from the app for me no prob. I know they just just added south african maps to the system. Hope it comes right soon. R300 is a good price, its a very nice app to have if you don't wanna use Google Navigation because of the data usage.. I'm on prepaid, so I need an offline GPS.

I've tried Ndrive as well, It comes with the LG Optimus, and its pretty nice too, though I think the Sygic Aura interface is nicer and the 3D rendering is prettier.

Is the R300 for a one year licence?

CoPilot is pretty decent and like the way POI are displayed and the maps are reasonably up to date. I think support should be better now that you can purchase it through the app market..
I bought a version previous to the store and it is silly having to remember deactivating the software before you upgrade your firmware.. I'm currently unable to use it as I upgraded to Gingerbread on my Galaxy S and of course forgot to deactivate it..... Will see how the support is on their side..

Unfortunately, at least two months after the Android Market enabled paid app purchases in this country, CoPilot South Africa is still not enabled for purchase in South Africa.

/facepalm

Sorted, download via Market and it look like a decent gps. Will test it tomorrow. Seems the license is forever

I tried it on my Symbian touch screen phone and while it was nice to a point, it just looked and felt like a DOS to Windows port and so yesterday. Navigating menus was cumbersome as a result. It could have been great but, for me, missed the mark. A great redeeming feature was that it knew when it was dark and automatically switched over to night time navigation lighting. Others could take something from that.

I would always go for an "offline" GPS purely because you don't want to be reliant on data coverage exactly when you need it most eg lost somewhere in the sticks looking for a place you don't know. It will work anywhere when your phone won't and you can't call for help.

Yip, I use Copilot, its the best for me. Google maps is oakay, only thing is, I found a few streets missing from google maps.

I used to use Garmin Mobile XT on my Symbian, but that isn't available for Android. Currently have Co Pilot. Has anyone successfully loaded speed camera locations onto Co Pilot. And I don't mean just as a POI that displays a camera on the map, I mean like how Garmin has red and blue speed limit signs indicating fixed and mobile traps respectively. Co Pilot does have a speed camera option, but I dont know how to load the POIs as speed camera locations.

Sorry if this is considered a thread hijack :)
