Below is my ping......Any suggestions? Have tried the antenna (the metal box one) My signal comes and goes as well, a problem I never had before (not to mention the disconnections) Frame error rate shoots up to 66% at times. Is there a solution to this?

Are you within coverage? or on borders

Have you tryed every position with your arial watching your pings?

the higher and the more directly it point towards a tower the better in my experience.

some towers are less congested so pointing to another tower giving less signal can some times give higher speeds and lower pings. (complete new direction unplug utd it might stay connected with old tower)

switch to adsl
Yep, I agree with that :).

If you've done all you can to get the FER% as low as possible, by various means - including the external patch antenna, then your next course of action is to try a competitor's service...

thats not a solution, maybe he needs 1mbit, which competitor will offer him that? maybe he can't get ADSL, maybe *shock* *horror* he doesnt want ADSL,

I log onto the Northcliff tower. What should the settings on dr.tcp be?
WBS will tell you to use an MTU of 1352 (decimal) however 1432 seems to work just as well...the problem is with Northcliff-BS - too many customers forced to use the same base-station...has been since January [2005]...

If you're on the linden side of the world you may get better signal shortly ... dirving past linden it almost looks ready to go live ...

If you cannot wait or like most, gatvol, get adsl as suggested.

Going HomeDSL with one of the 10,20,30gb accounts out there does look rather attractive... have a look at the adverts running top & bottom of the pages.

This is the reasons:

N-cliff tower IS NOT OVERCRAUDED!
N-cliff tower (number 2) positioned VERY HIGH and all the modems in 15kM radius trying tu connect to this tower. Tower spend lot of the time to "talk" with the modems and refuse connection. Result is "uplink failed" message from the connected modems and 1-3 sec lost time for reconnection.
My speed is 100 - 150kbbs if i connect to the N-cliff (1.5kM, signal level -70dB) and full 1M is i connect to Roodeport (9.3kM, -78dB).
I connected to the Roodeport tower for the last 3 week and have CONSTANT speed 900-1000 with average ping 60ms. "Uplink failure" messages are 1-2 tims per 24h.

So, now i'm "happy customer" of iBurst :-))) Before i made 100's calls to them with no result.
N-cliff problem can be resolved in future, when iBurst will erect couple extra base stations or with usage of directional antenna. "Patch" doesn't help.

PS! Base station n1 (CBD) badly positioned - too much metal structure around and the same endless "uplink failed" messages. Had to hook to the Tower 14 from Crown Mine location to have perfect connection.

any idea when this is gonna go live? Where in linden is it?

contact shaun green

If it can be fixed Shaun will fix it. Contact iburst and ask to speak to Shaun or Smitty. I battled for about a month to get Shaun out to check my installation but he came, conquered and since then I haven't regretted my decision to choose iburst rather than adsl.... ;)
