I have an N80, which I lost and found after 2 months.I believe and heard that many people are having problems with their N80 and took it back and took another phone, exchange for N73 etc.Who took their phone back and why? My brother took his back because for the freeze up and reboots. But yesterday he mentioned that he think it was Mxit that he loaded on the N80 that caused the freeze up.My brother got the N73 now.I got my N80 in June 2006 and no problems so far. What I did notice is that there was not such a big release with the N80,like it was for the N70,and the N70 is still been widely adverted unlike the N80.Did Nokia recall the N80 back because of problems?

I got my N80 last year December and up till now I haven't had any problems with it. I've done 2 software upgrades on it myself over the internet and still have no problems. There is absolutely nothing that I dont like about my N80.

The only phone that will replace my N80 is the N95 which I will get soon. Just waiting for stock.

Yes Piesang you are N80's number #1 fan.I don't have a problem either.Just from what I heard.

I have an N80, and previously to that I had a N70 which was stollen :(

Ok, The Nokia N80. I keep my firmware up to date, you can do this by downloading the Nokia Software Updater from the Nokia website. Nokia is now updating all standard N80's to N80ie, meaning you have a new Download folder filled with new apps, but the best app is deffinitly VOIP, i use the truphone services via my wlan.

Appwise, S60v3 still doesnt have the abundence of applications such as the previous versions of S60 devices.
I use these proggies: (when reg needed I have keys :P)
Mxit
IM++
Handy Clock
Handy Expenses
Mig33
and a few games.

I have found no problems with these proggies and the never has my N80 hung on me so far :)
There is one precaution you should take with multitasking, is when you have opened ram hungry apps or many apps, when the phone needs the memory it will close the apps using all the resourses.

Battery life is a bit of a problem, medium to heavy use means you will be recharging every night, but the new firmware helps with making the battery last.

Imo this phone is deffinintly better then the N70,N71,N72,N90,N91.
Now the N73 is very simalar, just change in looks, size, different shutter for the camera, and a larger screen (but the N80 screen is so much more crisp)
So the N73vN80 war is very hard to find a winner, if you want wlan and a slider then the N80 wins.

PM me if you want to download a nice app pack from another site :P

EDIT:

I AM THE #1 N SERIES FAN! :P

I tried the DIY firmware update but it just don't work for me,the problem start when I'm opening the Nokia Software Updater to link to the website, then it fails on me. Tried it many times so I am still sitting with original firmware on my N80.Thanx Silent_Bob

3 - 5 Nokios a faulty, just FYI.

Then we are a very lucky family. Oh, and my friends too. Wow, must be me. Not ons of us ever had a faulty Nokia.

Strangely, my P900 had problems. Needed a software upgrade.
My W810i also had problems that was only fixed after a software upgrade. So did my moms W810i.

So then I guess that 9 out of 10 SE's are faulty.

Oy yes, and if you have a close look at the P990i thread you'll see lots and lots of faulty phones.

Dont confuse user problems to faulty phones.

Are you sure you not doing that - I have had more hassels with SE's than with all my Nokia phones (which are quite a few). Naah Piesang I guess we are "The Lucky Ones" ... according to JK8!!

rofl. I have seen three faulty Nokia's amoung friends, i must know about +-120 people with Nokia's that are all happy, 6 nokia phones are in use at my house, none have had problems

This fone is old now I guess, that's why so little feedback.Eveybodies waiting on the N95.New and fresh off the conveyer belt from Nokia.

I'm afraid I'm also one of the people who's never had a moment's problems with the N80. I love my phone completely. Use it like an iPod half the time :D

Thanks for your feedback. This will prove to those that say N80 is a problematic phone, which is not. I never had a problem and still have the original firmware.

The only reason why I upgraded to the latest firmware is because I heard that it improves your phones battery. And yes, it's true. Much better battery life.:D

Well, sorry to go against the grain here, but I have had nothing but trouble with my N80.

First problem was the Bluetooth. Kept dropping signal which meant I kept losing my connection to both CK-7 car kit as well as my internet connection.

Second problem now is that the battery life only lasts for about 6 hours, which means that the phone only works until about midday (I remove it from the charger at about 6am every day). If I happen to have a call on the phone I can expect it to last for much less time.

Third problem is that the slider is not rigid enough, so it has "play" when open.

Fourth problem is that the battery cover is loose.

I keep the phone in a crystal case.

How long do you have the N80 and did it ever go into the repair shop.

And, did you take it back to yhe place you bought it from?

Not had any problems with my N80... had it since December.

Still original software... use it on several wireless LAN's and with 3G... also use fring to connect to Skype and that works great too!!

Slight hesitancy in the operating system... and a few little quirks... not as easy to get to contacts or profiles... but maybe that is just me.

My previous phone was a 6230 which was very fast.

the keyboard on the N80 is also a little difficult to use... so I got an E61 to use with the 3G sim.

Gonna try and do the software upgrade now.
