Does anyone use contact lenses?

I am about a year into using lenses daily. The beginingininng it was a struggle, but after the first week I got it sorted.

I tried contacts once briefly. Couldn't get used to touching my eyes.

They also never seemed to line up correctly and one eye was always blurry.

Just gave up and stuck with glasses. They work for me.

I went to try out contacts the other day as I want to ditch glasses and it is not easy to get LASIK where i am.

Putting them on and taking them off was a challenge. The thought of touching my eyes is also something that scares me. It felt great to be able to see properly without glasses but I still cannot put them on and take them off on my own and so will probably have to go back and practice for a while.

For those that use contacts, how long did it take you to get comfortable putting them on and taking them off?
I started wearing them about 2 years ago, mainly due to COVID and the mandatory wearing of masks which caused my spectacles to mist up...
Anyways, It was a big struggle in the optometrists office, getting them in and taking them out at first, but now it is fairly easy, still cant take it out like the optometrist showed me though.
Putting them in become easier since you get used to it. To get them out I put my index finger on the lense sweep the lens to the outside corner of my eye and then just pinch it out. I found that much easier than the conventional manner.
Watch a couple of videos and try the different techniques until you find one that suits you.

Depends on the lenses.
Ive had all types, the worst were totally hard lenses that needed to be taken out by using a plunger that you stuck on the lens and then literally sucked it off your eye.

Easiest are these 2 week lenses where you dont have to take them out for 2 weeks. They are glorious.

If you are touching your eyeballs with your fingers when inserting or removing the contacts, you are doing it wrong.

The only thing that should be touching your eyeball is the contact lens.

Removing the lens becomes a very simple manoeuvre with practise. I use a pinching movement with thumb and forefinger and it comes out in less than a second.

Does anyone use daily lenses (that you dispose of each day)? I'm considering getting them because I don't wear contact lenses every day, only probably 8-12 days per month.

With monthly lenses once you open them they only last a month and then you're supposed to throw them away, but with daily I could just use a pair when I needed them, and it may be more cost effective.

I am expecting a backlash here, but I use my monthlies until they are uncomfortable or tear... Current set is going for 3 months already... I just take care to always wash my hands before taking them out or putting it in and put new "juice" in the holder before storing them.
I wear mine every day, except for Saturdays and Sundays.

Agree. Been wearing contacts for ...... over 15 years. A "monthly" pair easily lasts 3 months.
