Does having car insurance contributes to reckless driving?

Does having full car insurance make you drive less carefully?

Having the insurance people wave the magic wound every time you cockup gives one a piese of mind right?

But, does it make you "not really care" what happens to your car or other person/s? I'm talking about "full insurance", not 3'd party, etc.

If you kill or injure someone due to careless driving, it doesn't matter what the insurance does, how do you cope with yourselve knowing that you could've prevented it in first place?

What are your thoughts?

I think you bring up a good point and the protection that people have from insurance must give them some complacency to drive a bit recklessly or maybe just a little careless.

I don't drive with the attitude that my insurance will cover any costs that I might incur, and perhaps that is why I have never been involved in any accident.

I have heard it over and over again, people saying "I don't care, my insurance will pay" if anything happens. If they didn't have that option, people would be more careful and accidents would go down. But the need for insurance is still supreme and will always be needed.
 
Er. I actually think insurance is going to do whatever it can to not pay out. They're going to try their best to **** me somehow. So I don't really have that thought in my head ;)
 
Crashing your car because of recklessness just because you know you are insured is very stupid. The hassle of getting your car fixed, alternative transport, etc etc.

Recklesness INCREASES your chances of crashing your car.
I wasn't talking of doing it on purpose.

I've seen a lot of people (mostly with new cars) driving like lunatics.

You didn't think about this question before posting it did you?

Either that or you have never been through the hassle of claiming form insurance/being without a car for a while/trying to get where you need to go to get your car sorted...without a car... etc.

All of the above is more than enough to dissuade a normal person from driving like a tit, that and the fact THAT SOMEONE COULD GET HURT OR DIE!

Good god man... why are there so many retarded posts about insurance lately???????

Nope you wrong!! Ask someone who was not paid by the insurance because of a stupid altercation!!

I know of 3 people with Ford Fiesta STs that were not paid out, honestly it was not their fault.
Another guy met up in accident in a 6 month old A3 but the insurance said they had smooth tyres, in the pics the car had the old A3 wheels... someone swapped the tyres and the insurance DID NOT pay him out!!!


Insurance in my mind does not allow for reckless driving no way can anyone think that, its just stupid!! They will find out everything before they pay, if you meet up in an accident and you have fines outstanding for breaking the speed limit at 160kmph the insurance company will give you hell!!
 
I'm pretty sure everyone realises what insurance pays out will never replace your car...

May be the insurance has nothing to do with it...just arogant people.

Doesn't make me drive more recklessly, cause I don't wanna DIE, maybe if insurance could reanimate my body and soul then it would be different......
 
i have this thought...you know those trapeze artists at the circus...and the tightrope walkers...? do you think they would be a little more careful if you took the safety net away.

How did I insult you? By asking the question? It's quite straight forward...Does it make you think you're safer or Not. That's it.

Below are some quotes from the other forums...hence my question.

You can do a very simple test to see if your insurance makes you safer or not.
Simply ram a minibus taxi or a truck and see if your insurance policy prevents you from being injured, or prevents any damage to your car. In that split-second before the impact, you will know the answer.

You are definitely my nominee for most irritating forumite of the year.
