Does load shedding happen in other countries?

Apart from Belgium and Botswana, those countries are a mess...oh wait, so are we.
 
I have pointed out before that loadshedding problems (rolling blackouts) are an issue in other countries with the US having had "great" blackouts
The difference here though is that our electricity sector is structurally in trouble together with many of the countries mentioned
 
Oh wow that a epic list of countries to join...
 
So basically we're lumped in with a bunch of schitholes...

Pretty sure the same is happening here.

I predict a submission to NERSA by eskom very soon.

Oh and until we stop bitching about the russian nuclear deal, we'll keep getting blackouts.
 
load shedding happens in Maryland, USA every year during peak summertime. it's usually just for a couple hours each day.
 
Strange the articles mentions loadshedding in Nepal from September 2014. I was there in April and May 2013 and even then they already had 8-12 hours per day and my understanding was that this has been going on for years.

Yeah, but Nepal isn't exactly rich, they suffer from extreme corruption as well.
 
Yeah I don't care about what happens in other countries...their load shedding doesn't affect me right now.
 
Whatever the reason it's idiotic to compare or even mention the US here. Yes eskom probably is to a certain extent doing the same thing but I am sure it's far worse than just that. We can thank AA and BEE

That's just when the new load shedding schedule was released. The article doesn't go into how long these countries have experienced load shedding. That public record is limited and the accuracy difficult to verify when don't speak the language.

it would be a good point if it was true
blackouts in the US have occurred long after the Enron scandal

consider: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Northeast_blackout_of_2003 -- 2 years after Enron

more importantly the Enron scandal was in part triggered the failure of Enron to succeed in manipulating the electricity market as much as they manipulated their accounting records
