Does Morsi spell kak for Israel?

The military losing power in Egypt is bad for everyone.

Brotherhood is still better than Salafi, however.

Morsi would do well to remember how Egypt has fared in its past conflicts with Israel.

Agreed but did Egypt have double the military size back then?

Okay, looking at the stats on the 6th day war I'd still put money on Israel.

It's not just the potential military conflict between Egypt and Israel that is of concern, what makes this troubling is that Egypt is basically the figure-head of the Islamic world, home to the Arab League's HQ. In it's capacity as a major player in the Arab world and being the only major Arab nation to recognise Israel, it has done well in keeping the peace between other Arab nations and Israel. If it aligns with Iran and begins to show hostility toward Israel, that could be a huge setback.

The Egyptian Armed Forces are nothing to laugh at either. It's the largest in Africa and the Arab World and the 10th largest in the world. It's also modern. It's Navy is also the largest in the Arab World and is a major power in the Med, the likes of Israel, Turkey and Italy included. Israel estimate that they match the Israeli Air Force in the number of modern fighter aircraft (an estimated 240 F16 Fighting Falcons being the centre piece) and the Egyptian ground forces have far more tanks and artillery pieces than the IDF. Of major concern is that outside of the US, the Egyptian army has the largest complement of M1 Abrams main battle tanks, numbering an estimated 1,100. The only question is the capacity of it's command structure because in terms of equipment, numbers and modernisation levels, the Egyptian army is more than a match for their Israeli counterparts.

Israel military power + US military power = quiet Egypt

The west will always be quick to defend Israel because their land mass is so small and their enemies so numerous. There simply wouldn't be much time to talk if Egyptian tanks started moving.

Egypt knows this.

Its all just hollow rhetoric.

That all hinges on the US appetite for war, which is very low at this point in time.

At most right now the US = deterrent and that is a good thing. And if Israel strikes first, she can't count on a sympathy vote from Europe. Britain and the US might come running, and that will probably be good enough, but the EU (Germany and France really) won't be interested. The EU probably couldn't even afford it right now with the Euro Zone in such a shambles. Israel does not exactly hold a high position in terms of global opinion.

One thing these guys need to remember that Israel is a nuclear power and if pushed into a corner I have no doubt that they will use them. Especially since the survival of their country, religion and way of life is at stake,

Also looking at some post on other forums, a new war with Islamic counties may provoke extremist groups within Israel to retaliate against anything connected with Islam, a very good example is the Al-Aqsa Mosque. There have been plenty of past attempts to destroy it

If israel nukes egypt, believe me when i tell you a nuke will nail israel. They are not stupid, anyone dumb enough to use a nuke deserves to be removed from the map haha.

Firstly he has to take control of the military which won't be easy but israel should be concerned. Hamas is very happy about this but the military still runs egypt, until that changes israel should have no worries.

This is also good news for iran, they have another friend in the middle east and they are well armed. Interesting times ahead.

I am not talking about a preemptive strike, I am referring to their actions if it looks like they are going to be overwhelmed

Again any country that is willing to use a nuke, deserves to be destroyed. End of story. I don't give a shyte whether israel are losing a war or iran(everyone thinks they will get one so i am just using them as an example) are losing a war, the use of a nuclear weapon would usher in the nuclear hell we see in movies.

I don't care who drops a nuke, they deserve to be removed from our planet.

I agree with you on the use of nuclear weapons.

Unfortunatly I do think that Israel can and will do it if they fell there country is about to be wiped of the map, especially with what an occupation by an islamist country would mean for its people.

Stupid thread title.
Yes bad news for Israel, good news is they only have 51% rule.

Not sure why everyone is going nuke crazy, Israel will not use a nuke on Egypt, never ever, even if they feel threatened. Iran and Egypt will never nuke Israel.

Get it? Good.

Will the new ruling party asses their trading rights and offerings to Israel in terms of oil and gas and other economic transactions, yes they will.
