The writing in red says "DEBORE: ON_FAIL_BLOCK_CUSTOM_BIN_OEM"
And the writing in white says An error occurred while updating the device software.
Can MTN fix it under the contract? Even if the contract doesn't cover that, would they still fix it and I pay?

if the phone is still under warranty, take it in, and let them fix it, i dont see why its not covered. The phone failed

Isn't that the software equivalent of removing the warranty sticker? I'm sure they could still fix it though.

I got it last year in August, I don't know if it's still under warranty or not.

Yes I tried rooting/flashing, will that have an impact on whether they agree to fix it or not?

Whether MTN will touch it I’m not sure, but you’ve voided your warranty with Samsung and they won’t, so even if MTN will touch it, your paying. That’s not a software failure, that’s user error

How much is usually the minimum/average price for such errors?

if the efuse is tripped then no, will tell you warranty voided,
otherwise you can take your chances and see if they will fix it.

note for next time, Rooting and flashing is done AFTER the warranty expires.
this is how I got my start with Rooting on my S5300 Samsung, after the 2nd Motherboard went and they told me no more warranty claims.

only then did I discover what an Android phone is truly capable of when you take off the bandages,
been doing it ever since on every single Android I own, including my current S9

incidentally, what phone do you have? because if its a rooting fail, sometimes a pakistani shop can fix it and restore the original software.

No clue, never botched a root, in theory it should be near impossible, but you’re looking at a few hundred to a few thousand, depending on how they charge.

Realistically if they go by hourly rates your probably looking at 350-500/ hour, they’ll prob charge 2-3 hours and likely charge shipping and depending on where it gets done you looking at around 5 days to 3 weeks to get it back.

And almost certainly install spyware and malware on it. I’ve heard enough stories to rather just bin the phone than take it to one of those shops.

I'm using a Samsung Galaxy A33 5G, I think the fail was caused by not unlocking the bootloader before flashing/rooting, I toggled the "OEM unlocking" button in developer options and didn't actually unlock the bootloader then proceeded to attempt root with Odin, that's when it failed. It said something about the VBMETA being blocked by OEM while flashing/rooting before entirely failing.

yip, OEM unlocking can be a tricky thing to do right, My S9 was a funny one involving setting weird date on it,
luckily you only have to do it once, but yes, the Efuse is tripped, that means it wont be under warranty.

would suggest pakistani shop seeing if they manage to restore it.
otherwise watching a few youtubes before rooting, and understanding exactly what it is you need to do,

just curious, what guide did you follow? as there are different models with different chip sets and different code names for certain regions.
so you get exnos versions, you get snapdragon versions, and then further versions, like Vodacom version/MTN version/Vanilla version ect...

did you check the IMEI first to see what exact version you have?

SM-A336E/DSN

I followed these two guides:

I usually use XDA a lot, even when deciding what phone is most rootable,

although much of the community has moved to making telegram groups with info there, including what to do when things go wrong.
also releasing different upgrades.

so see if MTN wil fix it, if not try a pakistani shop,
and then read the guides and watch the videos before trying it again,

took me a few attempts to get it right, and wont lie was a bit tricky.
but you only do it once, and then you never have to do it again (unless your selling the phone)

You tried to root the phone and bricked it, and want to fix it under warranty?
