I understand that different Openweb products use different backbones (although I cant find a summary of which product use what backbone).

Does anyone know if Vanilla, Standard, Silver or Gold have access to a newsserver? (news.is.co.za or news.saix.co.za)

Thanks

Those aren't the only news servers. Lots of people use Astraweb these days.

news.is.co.za with 3 connections

It is unshaped 24/7. Binaries less than 50 days old max out line speed. 50-300 days go at around 200kB/s average. Anything older than 300 days doesn't work. (Buy a block (200 gigs or so) from newsdemon or astraweb)

3? I never knew there was a limit. I hooked up to IS on Fri and just assigned 20 connections (random guess). All 20 are active

yip saw that....but I keep mine on 3....it still maxes out the line but if my wife uses the internet too then she does not have to contend with 20 other connections :)

this is the best practice - just because you have 50 does not mean all need to be enabled.

if 3 maxes out your line, use 3.
You only need more than 20 connections on really fast DSL lines.

What is the username and password for saix/is?
