I decided to try out Netflix to see what all the hype is about and I'm not gonna lie it was very disappointing... there's a lot of big series they didn't have, I'm assuming due to licensing.

So I was wondering is showmax any better or is it the same issue?

Absolutely love Netflix but, cancelled my Netflix last night because of the lack of SA content. Don't want to go the VPN route to access US/UK content. Decided to go back to 'other' methods of accessing content.

I've never uses Showmax so can't comment on that.

What package? The 4K subscription has a ton more to watch than the middle-ground Full HD package.

They have different content. We use both. My wife likes a lot of BBC produced shows and Showmax has a ton of that. Netlfix is better for US content and their own produced stuff. We tend to use both a fair amount.

With multiple connections being allowed it also works to just team up with a family member or close friend and one pays for one and you swap passwords and then you get both for the price of one.

Content is by geography - so i don't think a '4k sub' matters at all

From my understanding

Showmax has far fewer titles in total .

Well when I paid for the 4K sub I had a lot more content on my line that never was there before (seriously). New series and movies popped up that I never saw before. They disappeared again after I dropped back to the Full HD sub.

PS: It might be my imagination, but man I had a lot of stuff to watch on the 4K sub. Not so much on the Full HD. Still a lot, just not as much.

I have the 4k package since its so cheap... but uhh...

its missing some pretty big shows like game of thrones, supernatural, Vikings seems to be a season behind, The US version of shameless, modern family, true blood... alot of the shows I watch

I always thought Netflix would have a lot of content since everyone and their mother brag about how good netflix is but when it comes to series it's actually missing a lot and that's really disappointing

oh well guess I'll keep my netflix subs going since its so cheap anyways, I was just wondering if showmax maybe had better series but if you guys say it has less content.

I have Amazon prime, Showmax and Netflix. On the online streaming I prefer Netflix to the others, then Showmax and then Amazon prime.

I did not know that you got different accounts for Netflix. where would one go to see if they have the 4K subscription compared to the normal subscription.

What? Link please

Try find any Netflix original series on Showmax :D
Nah I looked for links and the few I checked said the content is the same. Would love to know why my entire lineup changed for that month I had the 4K sub though.

I use Warez. Totally free. Access all content at all times. Access content in different quality, 420p, 720, 1080, full Blu-ray or whatever your needs are. No restrictions. These companies are killing themselves with their licensing and restriction nonsense.

It completely depends on what you want to watch. If your thing is local stuff, showmax is where you want to go. If your thing is international stuff, Netflix is where you want to go. Just keep in mind the whole licensing thing. There are a few things monochoice has the license to, even a few Netlfix originals when it comes to older shows. The majority of all new shows and movies goes to Netflix (not counting local content).

More than likely prioritising content which is in 4k?

Gonna have to wait longer for Netflix local content.

The Netflix original series, titled "Queen Sono," will see Pearl take on the role of a highly trained top spy in a South African agency whose purpose is to better the lives of African citizens. While taking on her most dangerous mission yet, she must also face changing relationships in her personal life.

Sounds awesome :cautious:
