I got a used E220 modem and it is working good. However, when I boot the pc up with the modem connected it appears that the pc sometimes have trouble discovering the modem; sometimes all is well and the VMC software loads, sometimes I have to unplug the modem and plug it back in before XP sees the modem.

I'm trying to troubleshoot the problem and I'm thinking that the modem might not be getting enough power. I see pics on the web of the E220 where the data cable has 2 usb connectors for (I guess) more power to the modem. My cable is not like that, only has one USB connector. Is that correct or do I need the double thingy?

thanks

I've had similar problems that have been fixed by a BIOS upgrade.
