Does the Xbox 360 scratch disks?

Well i'm missing one aspect in that study, the effect of having the console standing upright [the disc being on it's side in other words] vs. it being flat and the disc being at a normal flat angle. I dunno, but for me, putting discs into a drive that's sideways without any type of clamp/lock mechanism is just a scratch waiting to happen. Even if it's being locked -inside- the act of inserting/removing is already open for problems..

While this is true, it is recommended that the Xbox 360 be placed vertically. This helps increase airflow to keep the console cool.

The older models lack the bumpers in the drive which causes the disc to scratch over time.

I add a mod to the drive that buffers discs properly. Scratching down to a minimum/zero.

A standard Xbox 360 should just lay flat to be on the safe side.
