There is a trend I've noticed recently.

When a friend of mine has a birthday, mutual friends will wish them happy birthday by posting a status update.

So instead of posting this to the person's wall:
"Hey man, happy birthday, keep it real"
we get
"I just want to shout out to the whole world how much I love Freddy Jenkins. Remember that time we got drunk and pretended we were seals? So funny, am I right? I want everyone to see how awesome and fun we are and how much of a good friend I am!"

Does this irritate anyone else?

At least they don't set it as their whatsapp status and change their profile pic to Freddy J.

Nope, let them post whatever they like. If it doesn't interest me in the first few words I just scroll past.

I mean, I hear where it's coming from - the usual "Look what I'm doing in life and how great I am" posts, but really, it doesn't affect me, so don't really care :p

You could always use the "Unfollow" button if there's particular people that annoy you :D

Haven't seen that yet. What kinda irritates me is that all the birthday messages are actually the same... "Happy Birthday X, have a great day".
And their response is also the same. "Thanks everyone for the birthday wishes, I had a great day".

Someone doesn't get attention on facebook...shame man. I'll be your friend, and post unrelated BS on your wall every day.

Don't use Facebook...wouldn't know.

I call my friends, nobody else needs to know about it.
