1) Get a ticket and enter the building.
2) When you need to leave, walk to the boom and get another ticket.
3) Use that ticket on the machine and then leave in your car.

I've also actually wondered about this- not because I'm cheap - just because I'm a mysterious rebel ^_^

I've been in the position where I had to do this. The parking machines have sensors that will only open when they detect a large object. I had to wait for another car to come, and ask to take a ticket first :P

No. There should be a sensor under where the car would be at the time you press the button. The sensor could be inductive and switch when there is a large metal object above it. So unless you wear a few Kg's of jewelry I would not even bother.

if you have a blackberry(SO's phone)... you can completely avoid paying car parking tickets at any mall...

sooooo easy... figured this out by mistake.

how can u say that and not explain! comon share! :wtf:

lol, sigh I leave out one detail, and you call BS?

this is funny...

fine... just use a magnet(ie the BB covers)... makes the card unreadable. Drive to the exit, put in the card, press the help button, tell them its unreadable and they open...

but you okes are cheap... pay the R7 - R20 parking ticket... if you want shaded parking, pay for it...

how is that diferent from driving to the exit, press the button and just lie to them about paying.
you just make things dificult, can damage that strip by bending the card.

however you want to butter your bread...

Same *****, different day (SSDD)

You have to drive over the sensor to get a new ticket.

Seriously? Wow I never thought of that at all.

Can't believe they would be that hard up for cash.

I guess you could just stand by a boom and take a ticket when someone comes with a car, don't even need to ask, just take one and leave. What can they do besides wonder wtf you are doing? But that's more effort than R20 is worth.

Sometimes when I don't have change on me and I don't feel like going to the ATM, I just drive to the boom press help and say my ticket was taken by the machine but the boom did not open. They just open it for you. Only been tested at Canal Walk.
