I'm thinking of porting to virgin for their data rate, but when i look at the call rates all i see is a discount after so and so many minutes. That wont work for me because most of my calls are short. Dont they have an off-peak rate? That suits my needs.

Thats exactly what i mean. I don't speak for so long. Not during the day at least.

Hi

The rates reduces after 1st 5 minutes of the day not per call. So after a total of 5 minutes no matter how many calls you make the rate will reduce.

Hope this helps

Thanks. That makes more sense. Maybe the prepaid rates are the same as the v100 package?

I think the prepaid rates are called V0, you can get V100 rates if you commit to spending at least R100/month.

But where are the v0 rates?

Check out the FAQ at http://www.virginmobile.co.za/virgin-portal-customer/userGuideDownloads.do

Click on the bottom one "Virgin Product Rates and Fares" and then "What Packages does Virgin Mobile offer and what are the rates?" and wolla V0 pricing and all the pricing pops up. Not a very obvious place to look if you ask me.

In a nut shell V0 is R2.35 per minute for first 5 minutes of the day and there after R1.55 per minute

1st 5 SMS of the day 60 cents thereafter 35 cents per SMS, Virgin to Virgin 20 cents, MMS 75 cents, Data 50 cents per meg

This is obtained from the FAQ on their site.
