Hello

If you're iPad has both 3G and Wi-Fi access, will it give preference to the Wi-Fi network? If not, if there any way to get it to do so?

Thanks

I believe it will , as wifi is seen as a fixed infrastructure 3g i believe is always seen as a backup. works like that with all my devices.

iOS will always use WiFi before 3G if it can, just check what the icon is on the top left of the display and that is what it is using.

Thanks! I've just turned Wi-Fi off and the little cone changed to 3G!

Well - yes then it will use 3G, so if you want to force it to use 3G you can toggle the wifi off like that so it doesn't use it. I do that at the end of the month when I still have 3G bundle to use up - don't like to let Vodacom off without me not using it up - LOL

Cool! My wife & I will both have 2GB Vodacom contracts for our iPads. She's getting hers today, I'm getting mine at the end of the month when my iPad arrives from the UK - bought it there before they announced availability in SA :(. I hope that'll be enough. She will probably have data left... I might have to do a "SIM swap" towards the end of the month ;)

I would suggest you use prepaid with DATA , i have heard / read horror stories from Iphone 4 users

I keep a close eye on my data from my iPhone4, I did use Dataman to monitor it but wasn't that accurate and seemed to cause me a bit of battery drain so laughed it off, I just *111*500# now and then to see how my balances look.

I'll monitor their balances quite carefully and will ask Vodacom to soft-lock the accounts if they exceed their quota.
