Your contradicting yourself - if you run autoupdate then you do download and install the updates.

Please check your facts before you say there are no more updates for XP!
XP is still supported and MS definitely still releases patches for it.

Sorry not AutoUpdate I meant AutoPatcher and I heard that that microsoft had stopped supporting XP

Guess you heard wrong :)

XP will still be supported (and patches released) until April 2014.

afaik Autopatcher downloads files directly from MS so its pretty much the same things as a windows update.

I just don't like those DRM programs and stuff

I wouldn't recommend that. They release the updates for a reason, not just for the hell of it.

With no updates on your machine as soon as you connect to the new you will get pwned.

Highly exaggerated.

Well I don't go to dodgy sites, I know my way around viruses/spyware

And I once found a virus that infects your auto-update and downloads more viruses

So I recon I safe

wanna bet? :D been virus free for 3 years

Catching A virus is like being mugged, If you are aware of whats happening around you and take the necessary precautions, the chances of it happening reduce drastically

I've been running SP3 vanilla since it's been released, no need to update, it runs in a virtual machine.
