Now that loadshedding is back again with a vengeance are you losing your main source of internet connectivity? If so do you have a backup connection?

In our area Telkom and Cell C only manage to last about half an hour before they disappear so it's going to be a big problem for us if Telkom cuts our copper, which lasts for 6+ hours.

My vuma stays up through the entire 4.5 hour slot, no problem.
No backup though. Haven't needed one. I have the option to get backup LTE through work, will consider it if things get worse.

The eff kinda poll is that?? wheres the yes, My internet goes down because the batteries probably get stolen:ROFL:

LTE makes me sad sometimes... :(

Currently transitioning from a wisp back to 10 Mbit ADSL. Both, thankfully, stay up the whole time during loadshedding.

Power goes off but when putting the main Rain sim into my phone to hotspot, it works fine. Cell C goes dead immediately

Telkom Lte : No but it slows down to a crawl as traffic increases during loadshedding.

Nope I'm good. I bought one of those mini-UPS from Geewiz last year. Keeps my router alive for about 3 hours. So survives stage 4 loadshedding even, as long as there is a gap between the 2-hour sessions.

That is on ADSL. When I get fibre I will have to buy another mini-UPS for the fibre box thingie (ONT?).

Also, I am unsure if the fibre network itself has power (like ADSL) during loadshedding even though I can supply power at the receiving end.

Openserve fibre where I live stays up as long as my batteries last, which is about 5 hours.

No, so far at the 2 most recent places I've resided the MTN towers are available during LS...

so far....

On my main Telkom connection I have no idea as I don't have backup power for my router.

On MTN (phone) I lose several bars of signal, which probably means the local tower goes down and it connects to a more distant one.

OpenServe here stays up and my router is on a UPS and from what I know locally Vodacom, MTN and Telkom stay up too.

Our fibre line stays up for the full extent of load shedding and I have a 3G card in my work laptop to access our APN if I really need it.

FTTH

Have big UPS with two 105Ah batteries to keep internet / security cameras going.

Worth every cent, never goes down.

BTW, cell operators go down after about 30 minutes, so cannot rely on that.

Vumatel mostly stays up, but at least once in the last month it died after about 1.5 hours of loadshedding.

Our Telkom exchange has a generator so ADSL/VDSL stays up all through loadshedding. MTN and Vodacom used to stay up but these days both go dead as soon as loadshedding starts.

Our local Telkom exchange also has a generator and an impressive array of lithium batteries. They sit behind a pretty flimsy front door and I'm amazed they've never been pinched.

Nope touch wood, seems to stay up far longer than load shedding as well.
