Nah, Apple just follows the trend set by Moto. They make a cellular phone, apple makes a cellular phone, they make the 68000 architecture, apple puts it in their computers, they delete the headphone jack on the Z, apple deletes the headphone jack on their phone.

Simple stuff.

My ancient HTC Touch Diamond had no headphones jack and it was released in 2008.

My current phones do however have one.

Yes. Using .wav files, Player Pro, and decent headphones all my music is as perfect as can be and it's on my phone. Cable link over wireless any day so next smartphone will have 3.5 jack too
