I have a brother that did some work at a gold refining plant.

You weren't allowed to come in with any jewelry on. That was a relatively new rule. Apparently before that rule there was a guy who would clock in every day without a wedding ring, and leave every day with a wedding ring on. He was casting a new ring every day on site. He did this for over 20 years before someone caught on, by then he'd left the company and vanished.

Someone should make a movie about it. Absolutely crazy.
Gold ?

Flip that is a lot. Even if you did it once a month that would be a lot.

My perk is WFH, I could relocate to anywhere and still have my job.
I don't think anything could reasonably replace that.

At the office we have coffee(beans) and tea and a shared fridge. We have parking bays and they will cover the cost if those are full.
Laptop and screen were part of the deal and get upgraded every few years.

We had a wellness service but I don't know if we still do.
End of year function, and a few social events every few months.

Its not bad

EDIT: Leave policy is great as well. I get 22 days a year + 3 fam responsibility + 3 personal days + Study leave (if you need). Then the legally required sick and paternity leave.

Get just a few little niceties.

Coffee, sugar and creamer for free (Used to be milk but budget cuts meant that was dropped)

Every year work gives out a themed birthday gifts for everyone, this year was a lunch cooler bag lunch box and utensil set with name engraved. Last year it was braai tongs and apron. Before that was a coffee mug.

We had inhouse fitness center but that was closed for expansion of the offices.

Not really a perk but a nice to have.
Onsite canteen was installed at company cost, not free or subsidized food but was installed at the request of staff so that's nice.
Don't need to leave to get something to eat or drink. Vending machines coming soon for same reason.

Recent change, no December shutdown event, instead gift cards are handed out. Which I prefer, would rather be anywhere else than trying to socialize with co-workers on the last day of work.

My brother told me all sorts of hilarious stories about the place.

Apparently 2 guys once tried catapulting small amounts of gold over the fence with some makeshift contraption. They got caught though.

Hmm.
30 days annual leave, plus a volunteering day if you want it
Subsidised private medical cover if you want it
Baristas in the offices - free of charge
Salary sacrifice (tax free) bicycle purchase
Salary sacrifice (tax free) EV lease
Company contributes 10% of gross salary to pension fund (on top of your gross)
Income protection/life insurance
Free eye tests
Employee assistance programs (mental health etc)
Microsoft discounts

All in all, not terrible.

We've got a rather flirtatious company secretary that will often laugh at your jokes, touch your shoulder. For a married guy with two kids, that is a pretty big perk.
We also have an office you can come into. Again, for a married guy with two kids, that is a pretty big perk.
All the Ricoffy you can drink.

Much the same on my end.
Lower pension contribution and no barista but we have a test bakery onsite which pumps out nice stuff daily.

We don't have full remote work, but if you have a family problem or something you can there isn't a lot of issue - unless its abused.

Generally though i have arranged:
1. Coffee - Lavazza only you can't work without good coffee. Apparently some want Tea, which i don't care for so whatever they buy lol.
2. I kitted out the Chill area with a pool table, TV (DSTV/AppleTV), and i did put out a poll for a PS5 and was told the staff would rather have physical things to do so waiting for more options
3. I take mental well-being seriously, so all staff get 1 day a month for just disconnecting from work. If they seem particularly stressed I'll sometimes approve more but so far there hasn't been a need to.
4. We buy lunch for the staff every Friday.
5. As a lot of the staff travel for work, i'll throw in a "if you'll be at this hotel you can get a spa treatment to relax a bit" and they can the company will pay the hotel bill.
6. Weekly fruit from the Daily Fruit thing.
7. Vouchers for Netflix, Prime etc.
7. Hugs are always free :)

As long as its not abused, and the work is done, i'm the kind of person who doesn't chase after people's every move. We have had some problems but rare. I'm also willing to help where needed, like one of my staff's family member is sick in another country and they're very down and upset and not sure if they can go due to the cost, so i've let them use my miles to book their flight.

I have been accused of being too friendly to the staff, and not creating enough "fear" of Director's etc but I'm just not the kind of person who likes that. I don't want to rule, I want to make decisions for the growth of the company and the staff and I feel I can only do that if i listen to their opinions and make my decisions based on those. But I know it doesn't gel well with your general "Director" business methodologies.

Remote work with a requirement to only be in the office once in a blue moon for what is more a social call than anything else.
Lunch in the office very day of the week if you do prefer to go in.
Transport to/from the office within the same city centre.
Bean-to-cup coffee at the office.
Snacks/fresh fruit in the kitchen outside of lunch.
Open fridge for cool drinks until it's empty for the month. Beer/wine on Fridays after 16:00.
Swag things bi-annually.
Extra leave days based on tenure.
Work/Life/Balance type ad-hoc leave day once a year for the "I really just don't feel like working today" type vibe.
Your MacBook is pretty much yours and when you leave or depreciation cycle hits you can buy it for whatever the value is at that point which amounts to pretty much no money by the time you get a new one.

Probably other stuff I don't remember right now.

-Heavy duty disability insurance
-Full work from home
-Internet connection gets paid
-If I ever have to go to the office, (maybe once every 2 years), all travel gets paid

IMO this is how it should be.

I dream of a world where what matters is your output... not whether your ass is at a desk (often AT THE OFFICE) for 8 hours a day.

That's not currently the reality for many people unfortunately... and not everyone is lucky enough (or stupid enough) to be able to go out on their own. It comes with rewards, but also risks.

This bunt manager of mine pushed me into a breakdown two Fridays ago.
I was taking a short break after coding and being in time wasting meetings from walking in at 8:00
So I had a coffee, and was flipping through YouTube on my iPad to find music to listen to. This was shortly before home time.
He had an issue with that, immediately began to dig into my work and ask why such and such wasn’t finished yet etc etc

What a prick
