Does your workplace offer any cool perks?

From simple things like free snacks or coffee, to flexible hours, remote or hybrid work options, extra leave days, wellness or gym memberships, or on-site childcare.

Dialed back a bit lately with budget cuts but still decent I think.

Absolutely nothing here.
No benefits except pension I didn’t even ask for.
Sometimes have to bring in my own milk for coffee because they don’t feel like buying any
Has been the odd occasion where there’s been no bog roll either

Oh and the best part I forgot to add:
This building is on prepaid electricity…well on Tuesday afternoon it ran out and we spent the afternoon in darkness. Boss man was too busy on the golf course to give a flying toss.

You work for MC?

We get a canteen card that inversely scales with your salary.

For me, that means R235 per month which I can breeze through pretty quickly. I try and use it for lunches on Friday, but the random packets of crisps here and there don't help.

zero perks, unless you count being able to work full time remote as a perk?
that's not available to most staff though, only those who were employed with that expectation explicitly mentioned in their contract

ok also a very small contribution to medical aid and life assurance

not complaining though, past employer had super perks, free lunches daily, awesome swag enough to fill your cupboard, discounted fees on using their product etc etc etc ... but the pay was shyte, I'll take a market related salary over perks any day of the week, haven't experienced any workplace where you get to have both

When I worked at Internet Solutions, we had R350 on our cards for the canteen, I started there in 2006, left in 2015 and it remained the same for 9 years.
Working in the Rosebank branch we got Nandos for a long time, until we started asking for maybe something else. There used to be subway near there, the Sandwich baron and some other shop I can't remember.
At IS we had some decent benefits but pay wasn't great.

Looks to be the same here.

I joined in 2023 and I'm still on R235 and of course things have gotten more expensive. A packet of Nik Naks is now R12 and it used to be R9 when I started, and the damn Nik Naks are my Achilles heel.

I was at IS for a year... 2015ish until late 2016 when their retrenchment waves started.

The canteen was pretty epic! We could also claim back a portion of our internet connection costs as far as I can remember.

Yeah and R235 doesn't stretch that far anymore, like a week :-). The canteen there did introduce a budget burger, for it, chips and a coke was R35 but it was a terrible patty.

Back in my day we didn't claim back any portion, we got it for mahala :) (unless you got stuck on iburst, then you could claim a portion), plus t-shirts, Friday pizza/braai nights, sometimes lan parties, the R350 on the access card. Was a fun time thinking back
