OK so we have some renovations planned next year for a utility room. Our little doggies (jack russels) will need to access this room from the outside.

We want both a normal door and security gate. Anyone have something like this? Looking for some ideas. If it was just a normal door that's easy enough the combo makes it tricky

We have put this on ours for the small dogs, ignore the barrel, fireplace project upcoming.
If you in JHB, I can share the number of a metal worker we use who has made them for us, very well priced.

I have something like this already. But I need them to access a locked wooden door with flap and enter that the security door if that makes sense. Basically go through flap of door through security door opening then visa versa just not sure if the flap will be impeded by the door.

Our security gate was made with a doggy door sized rectangle in one corner..

So you can certainly tell whoever makes the gate, you need a doggy door sized hole..
See post above they need to access closed door through flap past security door. Hope that makes sense

I'm assuming you would try align the door with the flap to the security door but just curious if someone has this

I can't think of anything that won't be a security risk as I recently thought of the same exercise. But basically you just make sure the hole in the security gate lines up and accommodates the dog door flap, making sure there are no obstructions. Pretty simple. Obviously will just take a bit of a custom welding job. Just weld two extra supports where the dog door is and grind out the parts you don't want.

But I decided to try the fake grass thing first as I dont want my dogs to be able to go out when I am not home. Skelms will kill them without blinking.

You can't use one of those doggie doors with the flap made out of flexi plastic material instead of the hard swinging door?

Doubt the security gate would impede.

Mmm that's what we looking to try first.

The utility room is off the kitchen. The kitchen has a separate door that locks this room away from the house. Also the house has the bedrooms blocked off again.

The dogs will only access this room as their "sleep" room when we are away, the rest of the day they with us. Also they have access to the backyard only not front. But this idea of aligned holes is likely best. But curious if anyone has it.

A few years back, when we had one 12 year old dachshund, we got home and she was not at the gate as usual. She usually slept in her bed in the living room and came through the doggy door set into the kitchen door.

When we walked into the kitchen, there were the legs and bottom of a person jammed in the door and caught with his clothes. He had already peed on the floor. We walked round the house to see his top part on the steps. His attempt to crawl through the door feet first had failed

We left him there and called the armed response. They cut off his pants, pulled him out and handcuffed him in the back of their car. They took him to the Police Station. A detective came round the next day and asked what we wanted to do

What am I missing?
Why is this an issue?

You buy a Doggy Door fit it and then adapt the gate to match as per Pic above.

No criminal can get in a door big enough for a Jack Russell.

You get doors that you can set for Out only. In only. Or in and out.

You get doors that open activated by a little magnet on the dogs collar to stop strays coming in and eating the dogs food.

This problem has been solved thousands of times over many, many years.

ONLY issue is the door design.

Do the Doggy Door first THEN get the metalwork guy out...

So at my old house I just cut the bar so that it didn't block the flap, they were horizontal. I had this plan to weld the cut off part sideways to strengthen the entire gate but never did.
The cut off bar was quite rough so good luck to anyone trying to push though it.

It's exactly what we had at our previous place. The hole matches the flap size. We also used the surepet RFID flap to keep strays (cats) out but allow our cats in.

I have an unused white sureflap pet door if anyone wants to make an offer. Also have the glass adapter.

The door at my house in 2009 that the burglar got stuck in was one of these held closed with a magnet. This fellow took a spade out a neighbouring house and prised the steel frame apart

The fake grass didn't work. So went to Buildit and got the cheapest door. Did a bastard cut and spare plank hole thingy. Got a cheap security gate. Cut a hole in it. Now just need to finish off the flap, although the dogs might protest.

Definitely a security risk as a skinny teenager could easily worm itself through. But will move my camera to that side.

At least the dogs can go out now when I am away, which was a concern.

any type of flap dog door is a risk ,12 to 13 cm wide gap is easily climbed through .my brother had his house compromised by a locked door flap for his boxer .they slid through .slid along the floor to the dining room table reached over the edges from underneath and took whatever they could ,didnt trigger the alarm at all and slid out again .laptop ,cellphone and wallets gone .build it into your solid security gate and lock it at night with a security door lock .it must fold in so it cannot be opened without opening the back door first .safety allways over convenience, your asleep they are not .
