Hi all,

Any clever vets here?

The dog in the office at work had a seizure today, it's the 2nd time it's happened (where I've been around) but apparently this was the longest one yet and so far, he has only had one this morning.

Now I know how to deal with humans having seizure fits, but not so much dogs so I want to ask people who know...

He is medicated every day - he sorta went rigid and such... I had to take the other dog outta the room but suffice to say, I'm just curious as to what / how / should be done for the dog - boss just spoke to the dog, kept him calm till the fit was over and he carried on running around.

Any thoughts/comments/suggestions ?

gzida my only recommendation would be to take the dog to a vet, they can give him a once over, maybe adjust his meds and help out on procedure when he/she is having a fit

This is what I would do normally, but the fits happen so rarely - like I said, this is the 2nd time it's happened that I've seen and I've been around this dog 2 years - the main concern now is (why I started the thread) was that the fit today was the longest one yet... so I'm slightly concerned - we watching the dog - if it happens again, he'll def be taken to the vet.

TBH i would take him sooner than later, if this was the worst yet the underlying condition etc could be getting worse and his meds could control his pain etc

Dogs can have epilepsy just like humans. The right medication can sort it out and prevent seizures.

A friends dog had seizures and they found out that it was to do with flashing lights. The kids would use their watches and such like to reflect the sun and the dog would chase the light but it started to cause seizures in the dog. As soon as the kids stopped then the dog stopped having them.

They started building on their property and the dog started having seizures again, after some investigation they found out the builders were also using their watches to tease the dog! Of course they put a stop too it and the seizures again stopped!
