Doing Business with Government

Doing business with MyBB

I will advise you to not resurrect old threads and make inane remarks on them. It could be detrimental to your stay here.

Chief, That is how I got to know about this site I googled a question and an old conversation came up and I replied is that my fault? maybe you should work on your google searches before attacking me chief!

Also factor into your quote that government takes an exceptionally long time to pay accounts.

If you are using credit to finance your stock purchase (ie overdraft) then be aware that when you eventually get paid you might find the interest on your credit has wiped out all profit.

From past experience, I do not do business with government anymore.

When I did supply under a few tenders many years ago, the average time from delivery to payment receipt was 120 days.

This was pre-1994 so I do not know what it is like now.

Perhaps some forumites who supply to government departments now can tell us how long it takes to get paid ?

+1 4 months waiting for payment, which never came till we threatened to turn off their servers.

Yes, but the OP submitted a quote which was approved (by being awarding with a contract), he is expected to deliver the items he had quoted on, Ts & Cs apply – the whole thing about errors and omissions. Since the CPA, quotes shouldn’t be played with… These contracts are usually in detail, that is why I asked about a guideline or any terms.

Yea too late on that, should supply originals. And would make better business sense if that quantity of cartridges supplied were to cause damage to printers, dropped from tenders.

I have been courteous. You need to google netiquette.

I wish I didn't have to supply Jack and just get paid, That would be grate

At least that way you wouldn't have had to do what you'll have to do:
a) Supply originals. Somebody will blame you somewhere, even if it isn't your fault. The thinnest tip of the wedge will get you crucified. Keep on the straight and narrow.
b) Record serial numbers or whatever form of uniqueness you can. You are bound to get complaints about non-working cartridges, even those you haven't supplied. Some perhaps say 4 years old left in printers that haven't been used in a while. Nvm the fact that you never supplied them.

One of the most abusive client you can have is the government. Then there's the sense of entitlement in that environment that it spoils any chance of doing good business.

Just be careful, if you supply them with rubbish cartridges, and something goes bad, you stand a chance of not getting any further with Government next time. I have seen some lucrative profits coming in from Tenders, so dont worry about R200k once off when you could make R200k a month in the future.

I see that the OP is asking about bridging finance for his tender supply in another post.

Government takes very long to settle accounts so this will be interesting to see how this pans out.

@OP I wish you all the success in the world and hope you still manage to turn a profit after your deals are done.

You have to supply the exact name eitherwise they will reject the delivery
