I bought a domain from Web Africa now I want to use that domain on my portfolio website but I don't have a clue how

The following things are needed to host a site:

Domain name
DNS host
Web host (actual physical space)
Website content

Often you can buy all in one packages where everything is included, but you purchased seperately. So the question is of the above what do you have and what not?

I bought a domain from Afrihost and I want to use on a Portfolio Website (different website).

this is what the portfolio website says I must do

A Domain if you dont't have one, you can get it at world's leading domain registrars godaddy or namecheap:
Namecheap.com - Web hosting starting from only $3.45/mo
Go to domain DNS Settings in the domain registrar account, where you registered it, and enter following IP in the A-Record field: 5.9.23.134
Once you've done it return here and put your domain in the field below without "www and http://" & press "save settings"

Go into your domain control panel,DNS settings, add an A-record and point it to mentioned IP address
Can add cnames like www. if needed to point to the new a-record

Give it a few minutes then complete the step on the portfolio site, should go live within minutes

I can't find anything like that only found this:

Looks like you need to register a DNS server, what services are listed under My Services

I see tabs for internet access, hosting, domains, web design and other services

That is a link for your cpanel interface. I would think that you only bought a domain name from them but you can now through that panel manage DNS to point the domain records to wherever you like. Just do as the message sais above and go to DNS Editor and add a www record to point to that IP address.

Hi @mmmig,

Web Africa should be able to help you with that through their support system.

Just contact them and ask them to point the domain for your. If your ordered a domain and hosting, it should have been done automatically and then you just upload your website using your CPanel's File Manager or FTP.

But just ask them to sort it out for you.
