To activate remote hosting on (windows home server) WHS 2011 I need to create a domain name.

Any recommendations on cheapest but also best value for money provider?

Domains.co.za been with them for 3 years and they are quick, efficient and never any problems

domains.co.za is one of the best in sa

Thanks managed to get a domain name from MS via WHS 2011. Not sure how come wizard worked on a the 10th attempt.

Will go with domains.co.za. so I can have a domain under my control. MS can retract anytime they wish I am sure although I haven't bothered to read the T&Cs..

dyndns is a great reputable service but prefer local is lekker :-)

You can't beat Frikkadel.co.za

Thanks for the plug, Willo.

I am always weary of a provider that has no contact details (address and/or phone number) and can't afford the extra $3 per/month for the "no branding" version of WHMCS...

No need to be weary. Give us a try - I'm sure you'll be as happy with us as all of our other customers!

Tried dialing domains.co.za (0861 100 698) for assistance and their number does not exist. Good start :(

@ITCynic, not sure why you can't get through, just tested and all lines working, please can you PM me your details and I will get 1 of the sales team to contact you, alternatively if you are having issues on the 0861-100-698 number you could use the JHB number 011-640-9700.

Please let me know

Wayne

I know what you mean. Like hosting providers that have the most generic WordPress site as their website and still has the generic Latin and stock photos. If stock photos are used for real and fictional staff, can you trust their server room photos? Does this ring any bells?

Check how classy this is: http://www.keystroke.co.za/about/members-options/

I wonder when ben_dover is going to fix this...
