Hi, I would like to add functionality to my site to be able to register domains (The same sort of functionality the hosting companies have on their sites when setting up a site). Does anyone know of a provider that has some sort of api available to do this or know of an easy way to do this. I'm not interested in a widget or a redirect to someone else. I have found a few companies that offer this but they either don't do .co.za domains or are very expensive.

You don't need an API for this. As Uniforum uses a mail robot system, all you need to do is simply look at the form fields needed, capture these on your site and then you simply substitute and send. It should take you no longer than an hour to do the basics, a bit longer to plug it into billing and the rest.

Hi Gambit,

Lusion Technologies has an advanced reseller system which include such an API (when making use of our services). It is also fully integrated with our powerful service provisioning, billing system and online payment gateway.

For more information just check out my signature.

I remember reading somewhere here on the myBB that there is no API for .co.za and in general *.za domains. There are plenty available for .com registrations. I believe the ISPs and others have been asking for such a service for years now, and are petitioning to have this service implemented.

OK, found the article - http://mybroadband.co.za/news/internet/11791.html

REALLY?! HAHA I need to send you dudes a little email.... I would like to make use of your API.

You can't *just* send a mail. Uniforum requires DNS to be set up for the domain and functional first... (There's API's for that though with hosted DNS providers)

Very true but if you are making use of something like pdns it is a case of a single sql query. There are a few things to think of but I don't think it is a difficult thing to do. If I needed an API if would suggest that I would be wanting to make money from the service and it is not a once off. Therefore I would want full profit from the transaction, not a small portion and the rest going to a 3rd party. Saying that, I just looked at Lusion and I can't register as I am not in the country but from reading the informationa nd taking the tour it looks like you could make a really good base using it.

Excellent, signed up and been playing around with it. Very nice I must say. One thing I did not see though, does this have an developer API which is available to free users?

Hi James

We have not yet made the API available as we are still testing it and have a huge amount of improvements lined up. We will be announcing the API release to all users soon.
