Don't go to Egypt (?)

How to travel Egypt:
1) Johannesburg to Cairo by international flight
2) Cairo to Hurghada by connecting flight
3) Hurghada airport to live aboard by bus.
4) Dive the Red Sea for a week
5) Live aboard to Hurghada airport by bus.
6) Hurghada to Cairo by connecting flight
7) Cairo to Johannesburg by international flight

What if I'm not in Johannesburg and don't want to go to Johannesburg after Cairo?

Travelled there before the revolution when I was younger. Had a great time. Even back then though it was a chaotic mess.

No traffic laws. Pushy out of control locals. Travelled with my blonde wife (was my girlfriend at the time) and experienced the harassment. It was something else.

Sounds like it has just gotten worse. Won't be back.

How to travel Egypt;
1) Book a flight which flies over Egypt
2) When crossing over it, flick it the bird whilst saying "fck you Egypt" repeatedly until you're over it
3) Thank me later

Will never go to any Middle Eastern Country (with all due respect to to the Cool Dudes who live there).
It's the Religious Zealots and backwards cultural madmen who make the place a living hell.
I know there is a wealth of history there (which I would dearly love to visit).
But I'm not going there while the nutjobs are in charge.
America for three weeks was bad enough... thanks.

True that, one place that looks really interesting is Iran and by all reports the normal everyday Iranians are very hospitable and open minded.

I went to Egypt three years ago and overall had a good time.

The treatment of women there is shocking though. In the time I was there, I knew of three women who were sexually harassed and I was only there for a week.

Yep. Have heard some horror stories. Same with Turkey. A lot of people have a great time, but one thing goes wrong and the cops get involved and then its tickets. I won't visit a country where cops are that corrupt and broken. Too many nightmare stories if you do some digging.

If you speak Arabic in Egypt, it will help out a lot.

How did I suspect you would be able to speak Arabic? Thanks for confirming.

Not sure what you are onto dude. Are you schizophrenic?

I dont speak Arabic but I noticed that those who speak Arabic had an easier time, for instance were less likely to be robbed at stalls.

How to experience egypt:
1) Leave uncooked chicken in the sun for a few days, pick off the maggots and cook it
2) Eat this egyptian delicacy, as soon as the explosive diarrhea starts, do a handstand
3) After the watery excrement has gushed though your mouth, nose and eyes then you have experienced egypts, sights, smells and flavors
4) Bonus tip : dont wash this excrement off, congratulations - you are now a egyptian citizen

People who make videos, and then cut out the pauses for breathing.... ayayaai.

Makes them seem so hyper. Exhausting to watch.

But sadly, I believe every word about Egypt and being badly treated at the hands of State agents. I have my own experience to draw from.

When he says: 'People have a naive view of Egypt,' perhaps but how a government remains so threatening starts with a naive view of the kind of behavior that is rewarded through legitimizing the State.

Whatever you reward in life, you get more of. What gets rewarded(goes unprosecuted) in SA? That is what you now have, coming down the pipe.

He is so focused on the difference between the US and Egypt he is completely missing the trajectory the US has been on.

#bigpicture #trajectory

Cops sound bad, but the people themselves sound even worse.

We wanted to go to Egypt this year and ultimately decided against it after doing research and talking to a few friends who have been there, with one describing it as “cancer”. Says you get touted, scammed and harassed everywhere, even by security who should be helping you. So F that. Ended up trekking in Nepal instead.

Turkey is definitely on my bucket list and have only heard good things about it, especially Cappadocia and the South Western coast. Petra is another place I will visit. Couldn’t care much about the rest of the Middle East. Would just go there to tick it off.

My guess is that the conversation was reciprocated with sounds similar. Unless of course the stall owner knew several languages, which by a wild guess would see him doing something else than operating a stall
