Dont just accept your premiums

My life rule, don’t accept just anything.

Been doing banking for free for 20 years. That include life insurance added.

Insurance and life cover, and disability can be an expensive thing.

Read the small print!

And if things adds up, time to change!

I recall fnb calling me when I was 19, to take out a funeral policy. Kept it for a while, and just dropped it a few years on!

PPS has the rest of my business. Can do the same but no excess for R780...

Chow outsurance...

Random...

I worked on the PPS systems in early 2000s as junior programmer before the Liberty posse came in and took over, allowed TCS (TATA) in and we got kicked out. I enjoyed working there though, people were awesome.

Got this awesome surprise from outsurance this morning.

52% increase. 30% increase on my excess. Please note building cover is significantly more than home value :p

Yep, they're all the same.

I've always wondered if this goes for your armed response premium. Can I call them and request a review of my policy? Or does that work differently to insurance.
Yes.. I've had mine adjusted a few times. I've also changed a few times over the last five years, these days with smart devices, you know exactly how long they take to respond.

What’s the best way and terminology to use to approach your insurer about reviewing premiums?
Especially after you’ve have had no claims for the year or any previous year and they still do their obligatory yearly premium increase because “inflation“, despite the value of the vehicles being depreciated.

You get a better quote and then threaten them with leaving them. They have always adjusted for me. You can do this every 3 years.

Make sure you double check the contracts after you push them on the premiums.

I did this a couple of years ago and the agent agreed to reduce my premiums.
Years later when I chenged insurers we picked up that what he had done to get a better deal was to change the model of car insured to a lower spec one on the system. Fortunately I never had to claim...

wow, are some people getting shafted with premiums,
guess all that advertising has to get paid somehow, all those pointmen and billboards and radio adverts dont pay for themselves.

shop around, can try Naked, or one of the other ones like CTRL,

Yeh, they're sneaky like that, or they limit the mileage, or change the cover to only specified drivers, etc.

Outsurance got back yesterday very happy to have reduced the quote..

to R1320... no thanks now waiting for FNB to confirm pps is acceptable then walk away.

get a broker
Why? I managed to get half the premium with zero excess at pps with no broker?

FNB has to confirm the insurance is acceptable to switch too as the bond is with them. you cannot just switch when its on a bond

For me - my broker has been their weight in gold - claims I send directly to them - when things go wrong, I send it off to them, they sort it out.

I understand but I have had zero issues over the years with either pps or outsurance no claim declined and instant assistance.

Do you have life cover only for the bond?

A big tip: bonds over R1kk ... its not a requirement. Only bonds less than R1kk
